Jucurutu Copper Geology
The Jucurutu region, has a geology characterized by the presence of the Caicó Complex and the Seridó Group, with the Jucurutu Formation standing out as the basal part of the group. The Caicó Complex is composed of gneisses and migmatites, while the Seridó Group includes formations such as Jucurutu, Equador, and others with metavolcanic rocks and marble.
Caicó Complex: Gneissic and migmatitic rocks predominate, representing a significant portion of the studied area.
Seridó Group: Jucurutu Formation: Represents the base of the group, with metasediments such as metaconglomerates, quartzites, and mica schists.
Equator Formation: Located between the Jucurutu Formation and other formations, it is composed of metaconglomerates and quartzites.
Other Formations: Include feldspathic and aluminous mica schists, with intercalations of metavolcanic rocks, marbles, and calc-silicate rocks.
Granitic rocks: Granitic rocks formed in the Neoproterozoic are also found, shaping the landscape and forming features such as inselbergs.
